Meet Pastor Martin

I am excited to be called to theAlley Church in Cottage Grove.

I graduated from Concordia LCMS Seminary, St Louis, in 2022, as a Specific Ministry Pastor. I have degrees in Theological and Pastoral Studies from Oak Hill Theological College, London, England; Informal and Community Education from Canterbury University; and a Masters in Youth Ministry and Theological Education from Kings College, London. I also colloquized as a DCE from Concordia University, St Paul in 2016.

After spending 19 great years as a Youth Pastor in the UK, my family and I moved to the USA in 2011 where I was a DCE at St Michael’s Lutheran, Bloomington, involved with Children, Youth, Family and Mission teams. More recently, I was a Pastor in Robbinsdale and North-East Minneapolis.

I am a multi-ethnic immigrant (Anglo-Indian) from England, married to my beautiful wife Rachel, a native Minnesotan and public-school teacher in Richfield. We have three grown-up children, Joshua, Hannah and Tabitha, in college and full-time work.

I am passionate about seeing people of all ages coming to know, love, grow and serve the Lord in their church, local community and further out in the mission field. I work with the local POBLO multi-ethnic outreach group, mentor Christian Ministry students from Concordia University, St Paul, been involved in the National Youth gathering and I have led mission trips to Haiti, India, Europe and within USA.

We love to canoe in the BWCA!

In my spare time I love to make and especially eat Indian curries and any ethnic food, watch English soccer, and use the gym or go for a long walk or bicycle ride! Rachel and I spend our vacation time travelling, and hiking, cycling and kayaking the State and National Parks, as well as abroad.

My ministry Bible verse is: 1 Peter 3:15-16, “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience.”
